WITH THE HELP OF YOUNG LIVING THIEVES, R.C., RAVEN, LEMON AND GINGER ESSENTIAL OILS
Whilst an acute bacterial infection commonly presents with an increase in body temperature and yellow mucus discharge, the symptoms of a viral attack on the body can occur suddenly and catch you unaware. At first there may be no obvious signs, except for the fact that you have a sore throat and feel really tired for no good reason, with possibly a few unusual body aches and joint pains. In the early stages of a viral attack, the common signs of a respiratory infection such as a slight fever, runny nose or moist chest may not be present. Or the feelings of being a bit off colour are put down to more work or other stress, too many late nights, a good dinner party that went into the wee hours of the morning, or for the young at heart a big night out with your friends. These early warning signs can be that of a viral infection, which is about to launch a full blown attack on your immune system. In clinical practice I have seen many people who present with chronic fatigue that began with a simple head cold, which could have been managed much more effectively.
With the extreme changes in our current weather conditions there is greater and more urgent need to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables and be prepared to deal with the increasing amount of pathogenic organisms (germs) that are all around us. Therapeutic grade essential oils can give quick relief from cold and flu symptoms. I only use Young Living Essential Oils because they are, genuinely organic, pure and of the highest therapeutic quality available. Young Living Essential Oils work in the manner that our creator intended them for - as our first natural medicine to overcome ill health and disease.
Forewarned is forearmed, so don't grumble later on when you are all stuffed up in the head and stuck in bed, that you have not been warned. Do be prepared by having these wonderful oils on hand, to help you resolve cold and flu symptoms quickly and efficiently. These suggested remedies are suitable for adults and children. Children less than 12 years of age use half the adult dose, and babies have one quarter of the adult dose mixed in with a little V6 oil before you rub it onto their body. Diffusing the Young Living Essential Oils is also very effective,
The Young Living Essential Oils 'blends' that I use for quick resolution of acute respiratory infections are, Thieves, R.C. and Raven, as well as Lemon and Ginger oils. On numerous occasions I have found that a dry or sore throat is quickly relieved with three squirts of the Thieves Essential Oil Spray on the back of the throat. I carry this in my hand bag and always have it on hand for a quick and economical first aid fix.
Beginning your germ ridding protocol with the Thieves Essential Oil Spray will go straight to the source of where a pathogenic organism is trying to multiply in your respiratory system. The Thieves Spray also makes a wonderful room deodoriser or toilet spray and I have found it useful as a first aid remedy for cuts and scrapes, particularly when you don't have the Young Living blends of Melrose or Purification on hand. (Melrose can be very effective for fresh cuts and wounds and Purification is great for dirty or pussy wounds and all sorts of bites and stings - including snake bite Gary Young informs us) Alternatively you can use ten drops of the Thieves essential oil blend in a capsule, take it in juice, rub two to four drops around the inside of your mouth, or drop the oil blend onto your hand and lick it off to give your immune system a quick boost.
My next line of defence is to rub two to three drops of R.C. oil blend (for Respiratory Congestion) around the inside of the nose. Doing this is a quick way of inhaling the oils into the sinuses and respiratory cavity. The R.C. blend has a very pleasant smell and taste. The Essential Oils Desk Reference (EODR) describes R.C, as being beneficial for a stuffy nose, colds, bronchitis, sore throats, sinusitis, coughs and respiratory congestion. Also apply the oils to the Vita Flex areas of the feet (see the EODR page 271, 4th edition for the Vita Flex Foot Chart) and/or behind the ears for small children. Repeat the application of the oils, and Thieves Spray (or essential oil) every two hours.
Just inhaling R.C. increases the oxygen content of the blood and I have read that it can help when applied to bone spurs. This oil blend has helped a Young Living distributor to overcome an asthma attack. Her testimonial was that she was home alone at the time and R.C. was all that she had on hand. She just managed to take the lid off the R.C. bottle and inhaled deeply until her tight chest was relieved with this oil blend. Applying R.C. to the feet with Raven and Wintergreen has also been demonstrated to assist with a tight chest and breathing difficulty.
Rest and recuperate better
It is important to note that in conjunction with using the appropriate oils, some rest and eating less on the first day can stop the invading pathogen in its tracks. A hot lemon drink, containing two drops of Lemon oil and one drop of Ginger oil with a little honey or Agave Nectar every two hours can improve your immune response to the invading pathogen by 40% in the first 24 hours. A hot bath is an age old remedy that our grandmothers would recommend to help the body "sweat it out" through your largest organ of detoxification, your skin. And rightly so grandma would remind you to keep warm and go to bed early. Heroically turning up to work and splattering germs all over the place is not in the best interest of your work colleagues who won't thank you for spreading the disease.
Whilst R.C. can assist with a stuffy nose and bacterial conditions that cause nasal congestion and sinusitis infections, Raven is described in the EODR as being highly anti-viral and helpful in the treatment management of tuberculosis, influenza and pneumonia and to help protect you when others around you have a viral infection. I love the soothing and cleansing feeling of Raven oil and rub three drops clock wise around the chest and throat area. (In Raindrop Technique training you will learn more about how this further increases the power of the Young Living Essential Oils). R.C. and Raven oil blends work well together on the chest.
If you are prone to chest infections a virus can go straight to your lungs with little warning. Using good preventative medicine by applying the appropriate therapeutic grade essential oils to the upper and lower respiratory area, in conjunction with more rest and less food can save you from an encumbering and prolonged illness. I have also found that doing a Valor Balance and applying Immuno Power to the spinal area of the feet (or directly up the back) gives really good immune support. If you have not been looking after yourself well, a Raindrop Technique can greatly assist in boosting immune function and detoxifying the body at a deeper therapeutic level. If you suffer from chest weakness or are a smoker, two other single oils that may be useful are Myrtle and Hyssop.
Myrtle oil has natural antibiotic qualities and may assist with a moist cough or a nagging cough at the tail end of a cold. The EODR notes it as antimutagenic, a liver stimulant, sinus and lung decongestant, antispasmodic to the respiratory system, a muscle relaxant, helpful to balancing hormones and thyroid function and as a topical application for acne, blemishes, bruises, psoriasis and other skin conditions.
Hyssop oil is good natural decongestant to assist with chronic chest weakness, coughs and chesty colds, viral and parasitic conditions. The EODR lists its medical properties as mucolytic, decongestant, anti-inflammatory, regulates lipid metabolism, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic.
The EODR (Essential Oils Desk Reference) is an excellent guide to using essential oils, Thieves oral care and natural antiseptic household cleaners, protein powders, A.R.T. anti-aging skin care, Ningxia Red and nutritional supplements.
